About Us

bravespace is an initiative of So Brave – Australia’s Young Women’s Breast Cancer Charity on behalf of all young women diagnosed with any cancer to provide curated mental health information, resources and support from a range of trusted sources, as well as lived-experience content created by young women for young women.

The Story Behind bravespace

In early 2024, So Brave, in collaboration with young women’s cancer and chronic disease organisation Cancer Chicks surveyed our communities of young women to understand what the gaps in care and support were. Overwhelmingly, we found that mental health concerns ranked as the highest issue of concern – particularly into longer-term survivorship. Despite many resources being available to some patients, there was a need to consolidate these resources and ensure any support needs and information gaps specifically for young women’s mental health needs were filled.

bravespace is that space.

So Brave would like to thank Cancer Australia for the seed funding for this site and the incredible women who guided its development – our Professional Steering Committee members – Professor Lisa Beatty, Dr Susan Palmer, Dr Kelly Bryden, Rhea Felton, Rachelle Panitz and Ally Kelly and our Patient Steering Committee members – Rhea Felton, Rachelle Panitz, Holly Chapman, Leticia Pearse, Sarah Cao, Makala Ffrench Castelli, Jeni Ward, Melissa Allison, Kristy Chapman, Emma Hammett and Valentina Zarew and the So Brave and Cancer Chicks communities for your support and input to ensure this site was create by young women with cancer, for young women with cancer.
