[Online] FREE Medicare Mental Health Check-In: Access support from a trained professional

A new free mental health support service is now available across Australia, designed to make it easier to access help early, without needing a referral or diagnosis.

The Medicare Mental Health Check-In is an online service that provides practical, evidence-based support for people experiencing stress, anxiety, low mood, or feeling overwhelmed. It is flexible and can be accessed at any time, making it a useful option for those navigating changing emotional needs during diagnosis, treatment, or recovery.

The service includes:

  • Self-guided tools and activities based on evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
  • Support for managing stress, anxiety, sleep, and emotional well-being
  • The option to connect with trained practitioners via phone or video
  • No GP referral required

This may be particularly helpful for individuals who are unsure where to start, or who are looking for accessible support alongside other care.
